25 years of multi-genre DJing
Richie Furness is a Liverpool-based DJ, host and music specialist with more than 25 years' experience spanning clubs, festivals and large-scale live entertainment, and his career has taken him through every corner of UK club culture.
Early in his career, Richie held down 10-year residencies at Chibuku Shake Shake and Abandon Silence, two of Liverpool's most respected underground parties, and he recently spent 9 years performing internationally as a host and DJ for the critically acclaimed Bongo's Bingo.
Richie’s played everywhere from intimate club rooms to major UK festivals and international venues, and is also highly experienced in open-format DJing across nightclubs, bars, events and private parties.

History
From Liverpool's underground rooms to major clubs and festival stages, Richie's club career has crossed Dubstep, House, Garage, Drum & Bass, Disco, Techno and everything in between, sharing line-ups and booths with some of the most influential names in electronic music without ever staying in one lane.
Richie's played sets at the likes of The Warehouse Project, Fabric, Boiler Room, Parklife, Hideout, Bugged Out Weekender, Bangface Weekender, Baltic Weekender, Beatherder Festival, Kendal Calling, Ibiza Rocks, TRNSMT, Restricted Forest, Rewind Festival, Eurovision, Africa Oye Festival, Liverpool International Music Festival, Paradisco and many many more.
He has shared stages with some of the world's biggest DJs, and his versatility has seen him play sets and warm up for DJs across a multitude of genres. Not many DJs can say they've played Reggae alongside Sir David Rodigan, UK Garage with Kurupt FM and DJ EZ, smashed out Drum & Bass with Chase & Status and Andy C, Dubstep with Skream & Benga, House sets before Bicep & Disclosure, as well as sharing stages with the likes of Calvin Harris, James Blake, Goldie, Annie Mac and Four Tet.

Alongside his underground club credentials, Richie has spent more than two decades playing to completely different audiences in Bars, Nightclubs, Entertainment venues, Private Events and large-scale parties.
Richie is easily able to move through the decades between Disco, Funk, Hip-Hop, R&B, Indie, Pop, House, Garage and huge Dance records, as is just as comfortable as when he is playing more specialist Electronic sets. Years of performing to mixed crowds have made reading a room and changing direction naturally a major part of his DJ style.
Richie also spent a year working at sea, playing regularly to international audiences, before going on to perform hundreds of open-format sets around the UK and overseas.
Whether it's a late-night bar, a busy club, a corporate event or a packed party, his simple philosophy remains the same: play great tunes and get people dancing.

Bongo's Bingo
In 2017, Richie was headhunted by Bongo's Bingo as the brand expanded beyond its home in Liverpool. Over 9 years, he performed more than 1,000 shows across the UK and internationally, including six tours of Australia, appearances in Dubai, a huge number of shows in Ibiza, and at numerous Festivals.
Richie performed Bongo's Bingo shows at prestigious venues in more than 50 locations around the UK, but his main home was Manchester's Albert Hall where he hosted over 500 shows for crowds of up to 1,000 people at a time, building a cult following in the city. He also performed seven XL shows for 3,500 people per night at Manchester Central.
Richie was an integral part of the team as Bongo's expanded into one of the UK's most successful touring entertainment shows, adding extensive large-scale hosting and MC experience to an already established club-DJ career, and helping train up new hosts. Years of performing mean Richie isn't just comfortable behind a pair of decks, and is equally at home with a microphone, interacting with an audience and controlling the energy of a huge room.

Radio
Richie has a long-standing relationship with radio, and has had mixes broadcast and appeared on stations including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio Merseyside, NTS Radio, Pure FM, Limbo Radio and Radio City 96.7. In 2021 he co-hosted a flagship Thursday night show for a year for brand new station InDemand Radio.
Between 2017 and 2023, Richie hosted the long-running monthly show Across The Board on Liverpool-based Melodic Distraction Radio, showcasing a deliberately wide range of genres and regularly mixing alongside guest DJs.
Radio has always been a natural extension of Richie's multi-genre approach behind the decks, using his shows as an opportunity to move between House, Garage, Disco, Hip-Hop, Jungle, Drum & Bass, IDM, Electronic music and everything in between without being confined to one particular sound.
Many of Richie’s shows for Melodic Distraction over the years are archived, and can be found on the player to the right, with close to 64 hours of music from Across The Board of every genre imaginable, including special shows focusing on specific genres. Richie has also recorded mixes for Clubs, Festivals, Brands and Podcasts including Skiddle, Wasted Heroes, Hideout Festival, Something Global, Cosmic Boogie and more.
